鼻胃管會使用於無法自行進食的病人，鼻胃管若正確插入時，成人的固定標記約在2.5-3格或55-60公分、鼻胃管反抽，抽出100 c.c.未消化的食物、灌食空針打入30 c.c.空氣，胃部聽診時有空氣進入胃的咕嚕聲音，且將鼻胃管末端放入水中，正常應無連續性氣泡。
Nasogastric (NG) tubes are used for patients who cannot eat or drink on their own. When NG tubes are correctly inserted, the adult placement marking should be at approximately 2.5-3 notches or 55-60 centimeters. To verify proper placement, aspirate 100 ml of undigested food. Next, inject 30 ml of air through the feeding needle and listen for a gurgling sound in the stomach, indicating air entering the stomach. Finally, submerge the NG tube tip in water and observe for continuous bubbles, which should not be present if the tube is correctly positioned.
