(Guishan Sunrise Park - Lalacar)

Lalacar is a unique tourist attraction that offers a bird's-eye view of Guishan Island from a golf cart. Passengers can see different sides of the island, and the guided commentary provides insights into the landscape's features.

Guishan Island, located off the coast of Yilan County, Taiwan, is the largest island belonging to the county and the only active volcano in Taiwan. It is named for its resemblance to a floating turtle. The turtle is 398 meters above sea level, and the island has three main landforms: the turtle head, turtle shell, and turtle tail. These landforms include geological features such as sea caves and lava flows.
The starting and ending point of the Lalacar is located at a scenic platform that offers a bird's-eye view of Guishan Island. There is a swing installation here that is quite photogenic.

Following the guide on the Lalacar, we stopped at the Zhenan Temple, the only temple in Taiwan that was transported by sea.

The architectural features of the Zhenan Temple are traditional southern Fujian-style architecture. The temple houses five different martial gods of wealth, namely:

East Road God of Wealth "Jinbao Tianzun" Xiao Sheng
West Road God of Wealth "Nazhen Tianbao" Cao Bao
South Road God of Wealth "Zhaocai Shizhe" Chen Jiugong
North Road God of Wealth "Li Shi Xianweng" Yao Shaosi
Middle Road God of Wealth "Xuantuan Yuanshuai" Zhao Gongming

After our Lalacar tour, we headed to a scallion pancake making class. Yilan is famous for its Sanxing scallions, so scallion pancakes are a major feature of the region.
Scallion pancakes you usually eat outside can be slightly bitter. With the help of the teacher, I learned that the key is to evenly distribute the scallions in the dough. Square-shaped scallion pancakes are better than round ones because they distribute the Sanxing scallions more evenly and are less likely to burn and become bitter.
The scallion pancakes I made myself were really crispy and sweet, very delicious.
