正向教養的觀念
正向教養是個說起來容易,做起來其實不容易的學問,雖然能做到不打罵,但不靠威嚇來控制孩子這點,說起來還真的不太容易,像是我們家吃飯時間常會有這種類似對話:「你再不吃飯我要把玩具丟掉了」,不知不覺已經養成了對孩子威嚇的習慣。Positive parenting is an art that sounds easy to talk about but is difficult to put into practice. While it may be possible to avoid beating and swearing, it is not easy to control children without resorting to intimidation. For example, during mealtime in our family, there are often conversations like,"If you don't eat now, I will throw away your toys."which unintentionally develops a habit of intimidating children."
1~3個月的孩子
這本書將父母養育0~6歲的孩子,會遇到的教養問題進行分類,進而告訴父母「該怎麼樣做比較好」,來建立家長一個正向教養的概念。
像是1~3個月的寶寶就要開始培養自己入睡的習慣,盡量不要有父母抱著睡或喝奶睡著的習慣,這樣容易培養孩子不好的睡眠儀式習慣,且之後這樣的習慣會很難戒掉。

For example, babies of 1 to 3 months should start to develop the habit of falling asleep on their own. Try not to have the habit of falling asleep with their parents hugging or drinking milk. It's hard to quit.

滿月前的孩子通常都需要固定時間餵食,滿月後就可以等待寶寶肚子餓啟動生理機制哭泣後再餵奶。
4~12個月的孩子
睡眠時間可以漸漸地做調整,基本上六個月的寶寶就可以睡過夜了,這時候建立一個固定的睡前儀式相當重要,如果建立得好的話媽媽和其他家人也可以比較輕鬆喔!
除了睡眠,10個月的孩子開始有好奇心的產生,在18個月開始有自律的概念前,維護孩子的安全環境及應對好奇心的,爸爸媽媽需要多點耐心和注意力在孩子身上。
