Even though there are trees in Meiling that provide shade, hiking can still lead to heatstroke if you're not careful. Therefore, it's crucial to be well-prepared and avoid heatstroke, especially for those at high risk.
Heatstroke occurs when your body is unable to cool itself properly. Mild cases can cause heat cramps, while severe cases can lead to heatstroke and even death.
People at high risk for heatstroke include:
Overweight individuals: Excess body fat can make it difficult for the body to cool down.
Infants and young children: Their temperature regulation systems are still developing, making them more susceptible to heat.
Elderly individuals living alone: They may have a decreased ability to perceive heat due to age-related changes or medications.
Athletes: Physical exertion in hot conditions can lead to overheating.
To prevent heatstroke, be sure to:Stay hydrated,Wear breathable clothing,Wear sunscreen and a hat.
